Tailor-made training: a cascading model

These sessions are devised in collaboration with LAs to reduce the cost of training to schools who are purchasing as part of a larger group. Training aims to:

introduce teachers to the service with a view to best practise
extend teachers' professional development

Training at this level will normally be held in a central location for individual representatives from schools in the authority to attend.

It is necessary for course attendees to commit to passing on the skills developed during the course of this day to fellow colleagues in school. Tailor-made courses may be more suitable for a senior member of staff, such as the literacy coordinator, who should be confident taking a whole staff meeting at a later date in order to cascade knowledge and skills throughout the school.

For this purpose, a full range of support materials are provided.

Each LA-wide training programme will:

significantly reduce the cost of schools purchasing individual sessions
develop the key skills of staff members throughout the authority
be designed in collaboration with authority advisors in order to address key LA initiatives.
