Case studies

Espresso Professional Development sessions can be customised to include LA initiatives or address local requirements.

Wolverhampton LA

Espresso created this scheme with Wolverhampton LA for key staff in all schools in the authority:

Session 1: Introduction to Espresso

Session 2: Literacy

A hands-on session with guidance from the trainer. Participants investigate literacy material, select relevant content and learn how to edit material for their personal use.

Session 3: SEN

Participants observe a 'model Espresso lesson' called 'Egypt - What can artefacts tell us about the past?' for teaching history in Years 3 and 4. During the lesson, children take on the role of an Egyptologist and discover ways in which artefacts give clues to the past. Training covers use of Espresso in whole class teaching, differentiated groups, and presentation of work.

98% of teachers scored the Espresso training as "Excellent" in post-training evaluations.

Feedback from course attendees

This seems to be a very useful resource. Very enjoyable session!
Graham Charles, Elston Hall Primary, Wolverhampton
An excellent resource for teachers - very well delivered.
Caroline Simkin, Braybrook Centre, Wolverhampton
A thoroughly enjoyable session for children. They enjoyed 'interactive' learning and the stimulus to learning was reflected in the quality of their work and their plenary discussion.

Mrs Ahmed, Year 1 teacher, Underhill Primary, Wolverhampton
