Become a 'Fan' of Espresso on Facebook

Espresso entered the world of social media this week. A new company page has been created on Facebook , and an Espresso Twitter account is now active. Over the summer holidays (and beyond), Espresso users will be able to visit these pages to:

 

- Interact with the Espresso team and other Espresso users

- Share ideas via discussions and blogs

- Discover new content within the context of topical events as they unfold

- Find information on training and technical support, or contact us with queries 

- Participate in polls and surveys

- Contribute to product development

- Enter competitions, win prizes, and much more

Foundation

Visit to the park - NEW!

Visit the park with Espresso and Cumbria and Lancashire Education Online (CLEO)! The lively and engaging video within this module was filmed on location in different parks across Cumbria and Lancashire (Kendal, Windermere, Chorley, Leyland, Lancaster). The video offers young children opportunities to: investigate places, objects and materials by using their senses; ask questions about why things happen and how things work; identify features in the place they live and the natural world around them, and to talk about features they like and dislike.

Key Stage 1

Espresso Zoo - UPDATED!

A new Treasure hunter activity has been introduced to this module. The activity, featured on the front screen of Espresso Zoo, asks pupils to navigate through content within the module, before answering questions about it.

Elephant football

Orphaned African elephants have been taught how to play football! The game is used as a way of building relationships with the elephants' keepers.

A news round-up of events in the form of three short video clips. The video clips are reporter-led pieces using language aimed at Key Stage 1 pupils.

Key Stage 2

Computer modelling - UPDATED!

The staffroom page for this module now contains videos to support and extend the use of these resources in the classroom. The concept of computer models being driven by an engine - a numerical database - is introduced. The videos also look at how the Water management model is essentially a visual interface, driven by spreadsheets working behind the scenes.

Children at Eldon Junior School in North London have been finding out about the Portuguese language, while cooking a Brazilian recipe. Brazil, a Portuguese-speaking country, is set to host the Paralympic and Olympic Games for 2016.
