Double Award is double the fun for Espresso!

BETT Awards 20048th January 2004

Espresso Education last night won two BETT Awards, confirming the company's status as the Number One schools' content company in Britain.

The Espresso for Primary Schools Service was voted Best Online resource by the judges. Espresso's Poetry Workshop Learning Module, produced in partnership with the Barrow Community Learning Partnership also won, in the category of Best Early Years and Primary Software.

The only company to scoop two awards at the event, Espresso CEO Lewis Bronze (still clutching the precious pieces of glassware) said:

"We are truly grateful for this recognition from our industry peers. It is wonderful for everyone involved with Espresso, past and present. Our dedicated team has worked long and hard to create inspiring and fun educational resources and we are delighted to have had our work honoured in this way".

Espresso previously won the BETT Award for Innovation in 2000.

Chair of the judges Ray Barker of BESA commented that the standard of entries had been especially high this year.

The full award citations are as follows:

  1. Online Learning Resources
    Aim of Award: to recognise the creativity, innovation and commitment of an organisation or company in developing high quality and effective learning resources deliverable online, either free or subscription.
    Shortlisted: Espresso Education - Espresso for Primary service

  2. Early Years and Primary Software
    Aim of Award: To recognise innovation in and commitment to early years and primary educational content and tools marketing; in particular recognising the needs and demands of this age and ability range and showing unique ways of delivering learning outcomes using an interactive medium.
    Shortlisted: Espresso Education - Poetry Workshop

The prestigious BETT Awards are intended to "reward excellence in ICT," showing the link between high quality ICT and effective educational practice.
